Owsley "Bear" Stanley needed a way to tell the Dead's gear apart from every other band's at festival shows. He and Bob Thomas came up with a skull, a 13 point lightning bolt, a red and blue circle. Stenciled it on the equipment cases. That was the whole plan. It ended up on an album cover. Then on everything. This version reimagines the classic Stealie in deep purple, teal, and green on indigo
