Courge Folk Museum collectionThe Guernsey Courge is a traditional fishing basket that was used for storing sandeels. Tied over the stern of the boat to allow seawater to run through and keep the sandeels fresh. The willow courge is completed with a cork trap over the hole, and a hemp rope strap.
