Giving you four mana on your first turn catapults you wildly ahead of your opponents and lets you do practically anything you want on your first turn
This is done by both checking against any status conditions (more on that later) and discarding Energy attached to that Pokmon, equal to its Retreat Cost
These dont always work, but they often have great targets, whether thats effectively countering a counterspell, pointing removal towards someone elses creature, or best case, making a Time Warp target you instead
The active Pokmon is the one used to attack your opponent's card, and only one card can be active per player
