Each one has a strong questing value that forces opponents to challenge or risk falling behind, and then once challenged and/or banished, their effects activate drawing you cards, forcing opponents to discard or return a character to their hand, and more
It reminds me of Whisper Squad, which looked really weak at first, but then youd end up playing against someone with seven of them and the game becomes all about them
Some of this mechanical dissonance also recently caused a stir among Magic: The Gathering players when Norman Osborn, a human, was given the Goblin creature type simply because his supervillain name is the Green Goblin
