There are several dents on the collar

One stirrup is a little more open than the other - possibly it was always used on the mounting side

Apparently the actual process involved hitting the fleam with a wooden club to cut into the vein quickly

Their shanks curve backwards at their lower ends

Straps for the D ring and girth of the saddle would pass through two keepers on the back of the case. The girth strap is still present Inside there is a pair of steel wire cutters or nips stamped " gland" (Probably Made in England).
