Hina's full (first) name is Hinaaiinameleonalani, which means "Hina who is nourished by the songs of the heavens." In Hawaiian mythology, Hina is the goddess of the moon. This friend would bring Hina to look at the moon every night (and sing Laurie Berkner's "Moon, moon, moon") and talk about which moon it was on the Hawaiian moon calendar.
